This unique tear-drop shaped island situated in the Philippine sea is the first place that comes to the minds of locals the moment you ask them where the perfect place to surf is. Siargao is blessed with great waves year-round which is probably the reason behind it being dubbed as “The Surfing Capital of the Philippines.” In fact, locals, together with a small group of Australian, American, and European surfers have already called Siargao their home, loving a life in which mornings are greeted by sand, sun, and sea. Every year, surfers from all over the world flock to this island for the annual Siargao Cup, a surfing competition sponsored by Surigao del Norte’s provincial government.
